Compare duplicate keys after unescaping
When a strict decode contains the same member name once literally and once via a JSON escape, e.g. {"a":1,"\u0061":2}, this stores the raw token text (a vs \u0061) and treats them as different keys, so the duplicate-key guard does not fire. JSON object member names are string values, so this check needs to decode escapes before comparing keys; otherwise strict mode accepts conflicting duplicate members.

I think it's still valid to have. There is an awful lot of badly formed JSON out there, and quite a few programs still produce it. If you know your source is (at least supposed to) create RFC compliant JSON, then you can turn on |
