Summary

Upgrade the pinned Agent SDK from 0.3.288 to 0.3.302 and integrate its session, task and interaction capabilities into the existing terminal workflows.

  • Extend /agents with producer attribution, task ancestry, distinct execution runs and inherited fork-model presentation. Restore saved nested agents independently of chat replay, and correlate transcript reads and stop requests with their intended run.
  • Add scoped hook failure-policy and idle-compaction preferences, plus session-local plugin-folder loading with held reload confirmation and SDK-backed partial-application results.
  • Display SDK-reported cron next-run and notification arrival/read timestamps using the user's time settings.
  • Add editable MCP forms with typed answers, schema validation, optional omission, FIFO request queues, retained drafts on send failure and correlated cancellation/URL completion. Keep form headings fixed and scroll fields only when necessary.
  • Correct affected startup/overage guidance and add compatibility coverage for usage attribution, streamed citations and exact SDK argument forwarding.

Why

The SDK upgrade introduces task-run identities and interaction contracts that need host integration. A resumed agent now keeps one stable task row while stale events, transcript reads and stop acknowledgements from an earlier execution cannot overwrite its current state. Plugin loads and MCP requests expose their actual SDK outcomes through the existing controls.

Closes #421

Validation

  • Automated Rust: cargo fmt --all -- --check, cargo clippy --all-targets --all-features -- -D warnings, cargo test --all-features -- --test-threads=1 and cargo fetch --locked passed. The terminal suite passed 55 tests; its existing system-clipboard test is intentionally ignored locally.
  • Automated bridge: build, 649 tests, lint, Knip and direct-dependency audit passed. Native SDK probes use isolated profiles and localhost fixtures, including citation accumulation from API streaming deltas and hook failure behavior.
  • Packaging/runtime: verified seven npm packages, packed Windows npm installation and six install archives. Argument identity passed under Bun 1.4.0 with the source, installed npm and extracted Windows archive bridge/SDK layouts. Packaging layout checks used mock Rust binaries.
  • Documentation build and duplicate-code checks passed.
  • Manual: maintainer smoke-tested nested agent attribution/ancestry, resumed saved-agent inventory, local plugin loading, cron timestamps and typed MCP form submission.
  • Screenshot/video: not attached; terminal rendering and PTY regressions cover the changed views.

Notes

  • Breaking changes: Rust and bridge NDJSON changes ship together; rebuild the bridge when running this checkout from source.
  • Docs updated: commands, shortcuts, settings, usage, troubleshooting and architecture.
  • Governance/release impact: both SDK manifests, lockfiles and runtime compatibility guard target 0.3.302. This PR does not change the application version or release workflows.
  • Local execution was on Windows with Node 26 and Bun 1.4.0. PR CI covers Node 24/Linux; nightly/release workflows cover real packaged Rust binaries across platform targets.
  • Actual idle-compaction activation, authenticated quota exhaustion, managed-policy/sandbox deployment and disk-full recovery were not all exercised live. Setting idle compaction to true or leaving it unset does not guarantee SDK activation.

- pin root and bridge SDK dependencies and lockfiles to 0.3.302
- propagate overage metadata and correct startup and authentication handling
- verify SDK launch arguments, history parsing, and usage attribution
- fix Windows fixtures and isolate test profiles from user preferences
- document configuration overrides and troubleshooting guidance
- attribute subagent messages and preserve task ancestry across runs
- centralize run admission and replace bridge-composed task metadata
- correlate transcript reads and stop requests with execution identity
- share fork model presentation and document subagent behavior
- cover lifecycle races and stabilize Windows auth spawn failure tests
- discover saved agents at every depth through the SDK
- restore ancestry and outcomes into the existing task inventory
- preserve live execution state and main chat transcript behavior
- cover repeated resume, refresh, and lifecycle races
- document saved agent discovery and restoration
- expose continue and block policies for command and HTTP hooks
- add scoped idle compaction preferences with reset and availability guidance
- verify native SDK behavior and persistence with isolated test fixtures
- cover settings controls and compaction lifecycle handling and document semantics
- add a Session plugin list and local folder input to /plugins
- preserve folder intent through correlated held reloads and report partial errors
- restore confirmed attachments during same-session replacement and resume
- retain session-owned MCP servers and route management to their plugin source
- add native SDK and terminal regressions and document attachment lifetime
- preserve SDK next-run and queue timestamps across live results and saved replay
- apply shared clock preferences and refresh cached tool cards when they change
- keep result identities and timestamps visible in bounded previews
- add cross-layer fixtures, terminal regression coverage, and usage documentation
- support typed fields, defaults, omission and schema validation
- queue requests and correlate responses, cancellation and URL completion
- preserve drafts on send failure and keep headings fixed while scrolling
- add SDK transport, rendering and terminal regression coverage
- document MCP form behavior and keyboard controls
- verify day and week attribution values and display limits
- cover native citation streaming and replay deduplication
- verify exact SDK argument delivery to child processes
- document argument ownership and citation projection boundaries
