The menu bar icon went gray whenever scrolling wasn't handled, even while Keep Awake or Wiggle Cursor was running, so Meowse looked off while it was busy. Now each part of the icon means one thing:

  • The wheel shows only while scrolling is on. It's gone whenever scrolling isn't handled: paused from the menu, waiting for Accessibility, couldn't start, or a trackpad or Magic Mouse scrolling.
  • Gray means Meowse is doing nothing at all: no scrolling, no Keep Awake, no Wiggle Cursor.
  • Eyes (Keep Awake), motion lines (Wiggle Cursor) and the update dot are unchanged.
Scrolling Keep Awake or Wiggle Cursor Icon
On either Full, with the wheel (unchanged)
Off off Gray, without the wheel
Off on Full, without the wheel, with eyes and/or motion lines

The change is in StatusMenuController.updateIcon() and makeIcon: Look gains wheel, and the dimming condition now also checks Keep Awake and Wiggle Cursor. Cross-fades and the blink work as before.

Tested: all 107 tests pass. Every state was rendered from makeIcon in light and dark menu bars, and a separate dev copy ran in the menu bar next to the release build.

The wheel on the icon now means scrolling is on: it's gone whenever scrolling isn't handled (paused, waiting for access, couldn't start, or a trackpad scrolling). The icon is gray only when Keep Awake and Wiggle Cursor are off too, so it stays full while either is running.
