LINZ Marine Basemap API

I would really like an API for LINZ Marine Basemap that provides consolidated access to New Zealand’s marine data layers (such as raster charts, bathymetric terrain, and vector charts) instead of relying on third-party hosting solutions.

Example Use Case: Currently, services like https://wetmaps.co.nz/ host these tiles independently, but an official LINZ-hosted API would streamline development and ensure data accuracy and currency.

Acceptance Criteria:

• An API endpoint is available for LINZ Marine Basemap data.
• The API includes access to raster charts as a primary priority.
• A bathymetric terrain service layer is included to support underwater mapping.
• Vector charts are available in the API as an additional feature.
• Documentation is provided on how to access and use the API for marine mapping applications.
