Animated GIF in comments slow FPS

When someone posts a GIF in comments, the display often run 10 FPS or so, unless the screen is touched, which speeds things up. Then it runs slow again.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to post with GIF posted in comments
2. Wait 5 seconds.
3. Watch GIF run slow.

Expected behavior
Animated GIF plays smoothly at source fps.
