Hi,

I would like to start contributing code to TeXstudio.

I have read the Contribute wiki, and I saw that code development takes place on GitHub, and that pull requests, patches, or changed files are welcome. I also saw that it is recommended to announce plans in the issue tracker to avoid duplicate work.

Before getting started, I would like to clarify a few points:

• Should new code contributions be based on the master branch?
• Apart from a GitHub account, is any additional registration required for code contributions?
• What is the preferred workflow for small contributions: should I first comment on an existing issue, or is it acceptable to open a small pull request directly?
• Are there beginner-friendly issues or small tasks that would be suitable for someone trying to become familiar with the codebase?

I would like to start with very small changes, so I can gradually learn the project architecture and the repository workflow.
