Become a sponsor to Matt Davis
Hi, I'm π§βπ¬ Matt Davis β engineer in π¦ Maine, originally from Illinois, running
OpenSensor Engineering LLC. I've been building Python π and Django applications
since 2007, starting while finishing my B.S. in π½ Computer Engineering at the
University of Illinois π« ('08 graduated with honors πͺ).
I'm a maintainer of pipenv and a member of the Python Packaging Authority.
Beyond packaging, most of my open-source time goes to:
- LightNVR β a lightweight open-source
network video recorder, now past its first year with a growing deployment base. - django-forms-workflows β
a Django form builder and multi-step approval engine, built to get organizations off
proprietary SharePoint/Power Automate workflows. - open-tx-isp and
OpenIMP β clean open implementations of
the ISP driver and media stack for Ingenic camera SoCs, so thingino-firmware users
can run fully open camera firmware instead of vendor blobs. This work also produced
coordinated security disclosures for boot ROM vulnerabilities affecting these chips. - pythonfinder, growmax, and assorted
smaller tools.
Sponsorship covers the real costs behind this: π€ AI credits and local GPU inference
that drive the reverse-engineering and driver work, π· camera and dev hardware that
mostly gets torn apart, βοΈ tooling and licenses, hosting for demos and CI, and the
unpaid hours of triage, review, and disclosure coordination that keep these projects
maintained.
