I have the same question. I would like it collapsed by default, or at least a setting that remembers how we had it on the last thread. |

Problem or use case
Could we have an option to keep the upper-right Thread details panel collapsed by default?
This is the card containing Workspace and Version Control, with the project folder, Open in editor, project scripts, branch, Push, and Changes. It appears automatically in new threads when the layout has room for it. I can hide it with the toolbar button, but that choice is saved per thread, so I have to repeat it in new threads. I would prefer to open these controls only when I need them.
Proposed behavior
Add a client preference to keep Thread details collapsed by default:
The request is for the web/desktop Thread details card. Proactive panels controls automatic diff/PR opening and does not control this card.
Related work
I found #13163, which proposed section customization, and #14089, which proposed keeping the card visible beside chat. Both are closed without merging and address different controls.
Would a focused default-collapse option be welcome, or is there an existing setting or workflow I missed?
