Description of issue

I recently start uing homebrew on Linux. I installed a few pacakges and they are working as expected.

However, when I check brew tap, there is no homebrew/core. Is homebrew/core no longer required in tap or is this a linux only?

brew tap only shows the git repositories of packages you have "tapped" locally. Packages in Homebrew core don't need the got repository because they use the json api.

TL:DR no, you don't need the core tap nowadays
