Hi, If you're just starting with basic problems, I’d recommend focusing on fundamentals first like variables, conditionals, loops and simple functions. On Codewars specifically, you can filter by the easiest rank "8 kyu" and begin there. |

jennaclarke875 covered the broad strokes well. To make it concrete on Codewars specifically: Sign in, go to your Dashboard, set your preferred language in the trainer settings, then hit "Train" with the filter set to 8 kyu only. That's the easiest tier and most of those are 5 to 15 minute problems aimed at people who just learned the basics of one language. If you open a kata and feel completely lost on what the task even means, skip it and try another one. Don't waste two hours on the first kata you click. The 8 kyu pool is varied, some assume more than others. When you do solve one, before clicking "Submit", check that your solution handles edge cases like empty arrays, negative numbers, or strings with weird characters. Codewars hides extra tests, and the "Attempt" button only runs the sample tests. A solution that passes Attempt can still fail on Submit. After you submit, click "View Solutions" and read the top voted ones. That's where you actually learn. You'll see clever one-liners and idioms you wouldn't have come up with, and you start absorbing the style of the language. Aim for one a day for the first month. Volume beats perfection at the start. |
