[BUG] Mach-O relocation syntax not supported

Bug Description

Syntax like: adrp x1, buffer@PAGE, mov w0, #'\n' breaks the highlight feature on the next line.

Update: It also breaks the hover action (help popup/modal).

Steps to Reproduce

    mov     x0, #0
    adrp    x1, buffer@PAGE
    add     x1, X1, buffer@PAGEOFF
    mov     x2, #64
    mov     x16, #3
    svc     #0x80

Environment

• OS: MacOS 26
• ArmLS Version: [unsure]
• VSCode Extension Version: 0.12.1

Possible Solution (Optional)

; fixes the issues if used at the end. But ; isn't supported as a comment at the moment #3 . So, ;// works as a temporary solution.

Thanks for reporting.

This seems like Mach-O specific syntax for relocations. We've got having a Darwin grammar on our roadmap, as it also has different comments (#3), so we'll support this at the same time.

I thought @PAGE is ARM specific to support PIE. Though, syntax like: w0, #'\n' and w0, #'0' are also, not supported. I'm mentioning here because I believe they are similar/same category of errors (I might be wrong though).

Relocation specifiers aren't just a property of the architecture, but also the object file that contains them. So from what I can tell they use a different syntax on Linux (elf) vs MacOS (MachO). See https://maskray.me/blog/2025-03-16-relocation-generation-in-assemblers for details.

Yeah, it's the same category of bug (our grammar not being able to parse a certain syntax). But the character literals one is going to be simpler, as it works on both gas and clang (both on macOS and linux). I'll also add that to our backlog too, thanks.

The character literals issue has been fixed in ArmLS v0.9.3 and vscode-armls v0.12.3:
