What is SWAO?

SWAO is an open-source CLI tool that helps cloud engineering teams assess workloads for sovereign readiness and cloud-native maturity. It analyses source code, infrastructure definitions, and runtime signals to produce structured migration plans, compliance evidence, and stakeholder-facing reports -- in minutes, not weeks.

Assessment engine

• Coverage scores: Assessment Coverage, Cloud-Native Score, and Portability Score per application and across portfolios
• 11 community compliance frameworks: GDPR, BSI C5, BSI IT-Grundschutz 2023, HIPAA/NIST SP 800-66r2, PCI-DSS v4, SAMA CSF v1, NCA CCC 2024, NCA ECC 2024, AI 10 Pillars, LLM Selection
• Landing zone catalogue assessment against AWS, Azure, GCP, StackIT, and AWS sovereign landing zones

Three tiers

• Community (Apache 2.0, free) -- full assessment engine, all 11 frameworks, HTML publication
• Consultant -- adds PDF reports, Terraform generation, portfolio HTML portal
• Enterprise -- adds portfolio mode, MCP integration for Claude Desktop, stakeholder challenge agents

Downloads

Pre-built binaries for Windows (x64), Linux (x64), macOS (x64), and macOS (Apple Silicon) are attached to the v1.0.0 release. SHA256 checksums and a CycloneDX SBOM are included.

Getting started

# Download the binary for your platform from the release page, then:
swao init                   # scaffold a workspace
swao health-check           # verify environment readiness
swao assess --app <app-id>  # run the 14-pass pipeline
swao report --app <app-id> --view auditor

Known limitations in this release

• Authenticode (Windows PE code signing) is not yet applied. The unsigned binary may trigger AV heuristics on some systems. A VirusTotal scan baseline is available in docs/releases/v1.0.0/ of this repository. Code signing is planned for v1.1.0.
• LZ Stakeholder Challenge findings are not yet rendered in the HTML publication. The CLI text report (swao report-lz) reads the YAML output correctly. Planned for the next minor release.
