Hi! I encountered another scenario that causes this exact HTTP_422 error on the contributor profile page.

If a user manually navigates to a URL containing a leading @ symbol in the username (e.g., /contributors/@username), the query is sent as q=author:@username, which is invalid syntax for the GitHub Search API and results in a 422 Unprocessable Entity response.

I've already implemented the fix to sanitize the username input (stripping any leading @ symbol before dispatching the request) and will open a PR for this shortly!
