Featured Galleries plugin incompatibility

Describe the bug
I received the following via email:

We did find an incompatibility (not your fault but an outdated plugin) with the featured gallery plugin.

Steps to Reproduce

When we pushed out a post to two sites (all of which were running the gallery plugin), the receiving sites had the galleries go awry. One didn’t show anything, the other picked up an entirely different photo from it’s local image database.

Expected behavior
Galleries distribute with same frontend result on remote sites to match the origin site.

Additional context

This will likely be, at least partially if not fully, resolved when we look to tackle the ID transformations tentatively planned for v2.0.
